The KAU Kennett Square 13-14 year old baseball team has just won the East Region Championship and will head now to Taylor, Michigan to participate in the Junior League World Series featuring teams from 4 other US regions and 6 other countries.
The team captured the title by defeating New York by a score of 15-5. It was the 15th win in a row in their journey thus far. They have outscored their opponents by 150- 19.
The team is coached by Matt Patterson, Sean Burns and Brian Regenye. Members of the team reside in the Kennett and Unionville-Chadds Ford School Districts.
Junior League is for 13 & 14 year olds and is played on a full size major league baseball field using major league rules. It is part of the vast International Little League program and 2 levels above the Williamsport level so popular on tv.
The team will leave for Michigan on Friday Aug 11 to attend the opening ceremonies and banquet. They play their first game on Monday. The tournament will run till Sunday Aug 20 with the final game being televised internationally on ESPN.
