  • Coach or Board Member
  • Takes charge of situation
  • Assesses injured person
  • Directs others

  • Assigned adult calls EMS
  • Provides field location
  • Describes situation

Crowd Control

  • Keeps players back
  • Keeps spectators back
  • Clears access for EMS

Meet Responders

  • Meet EMS at parking lot
  • Direct them to field

Emergency Procedures

1

Stop Play

  • Stop the game or practice immediately
  • Secure the area

Assess the Situation

  • Is the person conscious?
  • Are they breathing?
  • Is there severe bleeding?

Call 911 If Needed

Call immediately for:

  • Unconscious person
  • Suspected neck/spinal injury
  • Severe bleeding
  • Cardiac/breathing emergency
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Broken bones with deformity
  • Any unsafe situation

Information to give 911:

  • Your name
  • "Medical emergency at KAU Little League"
  • Field name and location
  • Nature of the injury
  • Age and condition of injured person

⚠ Do not hang up until instructed by the dispatcher.

AED & First Aid

AED Location

  • Retrieve immediately for cardiac emergencies
  • Follow the device voice instructions

First Aid Kits

  • Equipment sheds at all fields
  • Snack shack – KAU Sinton Field

Common Supplies

  • Ice packs
  • Gloves
  • Gauze
  • Bandages

Parent / Guardian Notification

Notification Protocol

  • Notify the parent or guardian immediately
  • If parent is not present, use contact info from player registration
  • No player may leave with anyone other than a verified parent/guardian unless transported by emergency services

Lightning & Severe Weather

If thunder is heard or lightning is seen:

  • Stop play immediately
  • Clear all fields
  • Move players & spectators to vehicles or buildings

30-Minute Rule

Play may resume 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning.

Concussion Protocol

Possible Signs

  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Nausea
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Balance issues

Required Actions

  • Remove player from play immediately
  • Do NOT allow return to play
  • Player must be cleared by a healthcare professional before returning

Missing Child Procedure

  1. 1Stop all activity
  2. 2Alert board members and coaches immediately
  3. 3Search fields, dugouts, restrooms, and parking areas
  4. 4If not located within 10 minutes, call 911

Incident Reporting

All serious incidents must be reported within 24 hours to the League President and Safety Officer.

Report Must Include

  • Date and time
  • Location
  • Description of incident
  • Actions taken
  • Witnesses

Little League Injury Tracking forms should be completed when required.

Coach Requirements

All coaches must:

  • Review this Emergency Action Plan
  • Know the location of AEDs and first aid kits
  • Carry a team roster with emergency contact information
  • Complete required Little League safety training
