KAU Little League Emergency Action Plan (EAP)
Purpose
The purpose of this Emergency Action Plan is to provide clear procedures for responding to medical emergencies or safety incidents at KAU Little League fields. The goal is to ensure a rapid, organized response that prioritizes player, spectator, and volunteer safety.
1. Emergency Roles
When an emergency occurs, the nearest responsible adult should assume the following roles:
Incident Leader (Coach or Board Member)
Call 911
Crowd Control
Meet Emergency Responders

Step 1: Stop Play
Step 2: Assess the Situation
Determine:
Step 3: Call 911 if Needed
Call immediately for:
Unconscious person
Suspected neck or spinal injury
Severe bleeding
Cardiac or breathing emergency
Severe allergic reaction
Broken bones with deformity
Any situation where safety is uncertain
Information to give 911:
Do not hang up until instructed.
4. AED and First Aid
If available:
AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
First Aid Kits
Located at:
Common supplies include:
Ice packs
Gloves
Gauze
Bandages
5. Parent / Guardian Notification
Notify the parent or guardian immediately.
If a parent is not present, use the contact information from the player registration.
No player should leave with anyone other than a verified parent/guardian unless emergency services transport them.
6. Lightning and Severe Weather
If thunder is heard or lightning is seen:

7. Concussion Protocol
If a player shows signs of concussion:
Possible signs include:
Headache
Dizziness
Confusion
Nausea
Sensitivity to light
Balance issues
Action
Remove the player immediately
Do not allow return to play
Player must be evaluated by a healthcare professional before returning
8. Missing Child Procedure
If a child cannot be located:
Stop all activity
Alert board members and coaches immediately
Search fields, dugouts, restrooms, and parking areas
If not located within 10 minutes, call 911
9. Incident Reporting
All serious incidents must be reported within 24 hours.
Submit reports to:
League President
Safety Officer
Include:
Date/time
Location
Description of incident
Actions taken
Witnesses
Little League Injury Tracking forms should be completed when required.

All coaches must:

Know the location of AEDs and first aid kits
Carry a team roster with emergency contact information
Complete required Little League safety training that prioritizes player, spectator, and volunteer safety.
